Default What are you reading now?

Anyone have any interesting books they're reading? Please give a short synopsis, so we can decide if we want to check the book out and maybe read it.

Currently I'm reading "Spindle's End" by Robin McKinley. It's really good, about Sleeping Beauty/Briar Rose. ^_^ I love it so far! Basically, the book is the story of Sleeping Beauty, what with the being born, and the gifts, and the evil fairy casting a spell. And in this book, she gets raised by fairies (kinda like in the Disney movie).

I've been reading the House of Night series by PC and Kristen Cast...another take on vampires. NOT as good as Twilight but muy different and kind of interesting if you get past all the editing errors and wannabe HP/Twilightness of it.

I agree. They aren't as good, but they're fine to pass the time. I'm reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels, which are the books that the show True Blood is based off.

I'm reading Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley, another retelling of Beauty and the Beast. XD

After I finish this, I'll be reading a lot of historical fiction ones. hehe

Speaking of historical fiction, I'm reading Ruled Britannia. It's an alternate history story that takes place in 17th century England. The twist is that in the story, Spain has taken over England and has instituted the Inquisition there. Remember that at this time period, most of England was Protestant while the rest of Europe was Catholic, so there are tons of heresy trials, executions, and general chaos. Oh, and Shakespeare is the main character. Good stuff.

Sounds pretty interesting. Not quite my cup of tea, but interesting. XD All mine are based on British royalty currently. XD Elizabeth I, Bloody Mary, Catherine, Anne Boleyn, Guinevere, etc.

I love books with heroines. XD

Well, Elizabeth will have something to do with it, since the book mentioned that she was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

I like heroin too, but crack is more my style.

:P You know what I meant, Tyler.

And not my cup of tea, depending on how gory it is. Not one for gory. But if it's not too gory, maybe I'll check it out.

After you mentioned this author I went and found Beauty and Rose Daughter...I read Beauty in day and really loved it. Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite Disney movie. So THANKS for mentioning that one. I still have to read the Sleeping Beauty one though. I have never been a big fan of that story so I dunno how I will like it. So right now I am currently rereading New Moon.
