Default S. King NOT a fan of Meyer's, prefers JK Rowling

This is from an article from USA Weekend:

"King compared the Mormon author to JK Rowling, saying that both authors were "speaking directly to young people". "The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good"

Pretty bad comment to make but the man is a genius... Regardless, I enjoyed the movie... The acting not much but the overall love story is beautiful.

Yeah. The one thing that ticked me off about the movie was the acting. ¬.¬ They couldn't get people who acted better? (And who looked more accurate? Alice was the best.)

I read that article, I think. Dunno what he has against authors writing towards young people, though.

Frankly, I don't give a darn what Stephen King has to say. I think his books and movies suck. Furthermore, I was rereading through Deathly Hallows the other day and couldn't find any difference in writing styles. I think he's just upset that Stephenie Meyer got huge over a couple teen novels, while he had to work harder and longer to get recognized for his darker stuff.

LMao Stephen King was instantly recognized for his novel the Stand and he has much more literary merit than either of these two fucking female shits who couldn't write to save their lives. They're solucky that our youth nowadays are basically bred to be tasteless shills or their shit would fade into obscurity. Which they will anyways within a couple of decades. Forgotten drivel. Dross. Not worthy of the fucking paper they're printed on.

Also I would like to note I don't even really like King aside from a couple of novels and his Dark Tower series. He's wrong though they're both terrible writers, Rowling is just more okay at it.

he has nothing against authors writing to young people. Have you ever thought, hey maybe, she really can not write? I mean, in the literal sense, she can write, but writing is an art form, she can put together a good story, but she is not a good writer. There is a difference.

Also yeah I meant to attack that nowhere in that article does he say there is anything wrong with writing to young people. But you know what, aside from kids, I think targeting a certain audience and pandering to them due to their age is a bit condescending like hey maybe they won't understand anything complex well hell no they won't if all you write and give them is shit like Twilight.

Agreed. It is a marketing scheme. I was raeding Stephen King when I was 12. His books are just as easy to read imo as any childrens Novel I have ever come across, yet they are relatively written well.

I do not read much I actually prefer audio books... But as far as literary pieces of art.. I really enjoy Shakespeare.. and I believe that when it comes to books like twilight and hp you are paying more for a story line than you are for some of the literary aspects... while their are many writters out there that can write very well they lack the creativity that JK and Meyer's have displayed in their writings... around here we have a saying "you can make a better burger than McDonald's, but you can't sell a million of them".... Usually it is smaller writers that have the best stories.. IMO... but the big hits make it big because they have something that appeals to a wider range of people

How many books by other authors have you read? There is NOTHING creative AT ALL about Twilight. The same romantic tale about a human girl, a charming vampire, and some pissed off werewolves has been told time and time again. People like Stephen King are not only better on a literary level, they are far more creative, have for more original stories, and are just, a better writer.

Hey WIKI... I didn't say they were better than Stephen King ...You don't get great writers like that very often... I'm just saying that compared to some of today's other writers they are more creative and able to reach a wider population of people... and the reason I added Twilight was because this is a Twilight forum while some of us may not think it is very creative i was attempting to respect the opinion of those who may... and I feel that while we are here talking about Epic, great, good, alright, and bad writers Tolkien deserves a mention also... LOTR is a pretty great story IMO
